Recount

In the holidays I went to kia kora with gabby. We were up there for 3-4 days. We spent most of the time on the bisket or on the boat that my dad owns. 

One time we were out in the bay and saw 2 baby whales. Its quite shalow in the bay for whales to be there. At first my dad didn't believe it was a whale. But I knew it was because the whale boat was there as well.

 My dad went so close I freaked out and told him to leave. He tried to comfort me by saying that it's not going to hurt us and it's too small to be a whale. He decided to go closer, By this point we were so close to the whale boat. 

I had had enough and told my dad to lead us back home. He turned around slowly still looking to the animal in the water. Then we all saw the two small whale tails go up right behind us. I freaked out and told my dad to go  faster because we are meant to be 50 meters away but we were like 20. We started to head back faster, I think my dad caught on that we were too close to the whale. 

On our way back to the wharf I saw 3 figures on the distance, I knew straight away it was a group of whales, also known as a pod, school or gam. I pointed out to gabby and my dad that there were more whales. My dad said that there's probably a whole pod of whales in here, we cant see most of them though.

After that we saw a few canowers put where we were. My dad wanted to tell them just in case they got a fright since canoes are so small and whales quite big. Once we told the leader we saw the canoe people go back. My dad dropped gabby and I off and we went to get changed into our onesies. 

Then we got a message that the whales were close to shore and go stand on the rocks out by see. We walked down and tried to go as far as possible out to the rocks but we were not high enough to see them so we moved closer to shore on a high rock. We were watching the whales coming up and down alot and the 1 person  behind us was jumping up and down and screaming. I was getting really annoyed. 

Gabby and I tried to look for my dad's boat but there were so many boats it was hard to tell. After 5 minutes trying to find him we finally found him not even near the whales.  That's when I realized that he had two whales to watch by himself. That was m5y story about when I saw 7 whales.
