Camp Recount

Hanmer Springs Camp. On the 26th of February the year 7 and 8s went on camp until the 28th. We went with Ms.Holland, Melissa, Mrs.Rooney, George Ellis, Barber Richards, Aileen Boyle and Chris Brennan. We arrived early at school and got into our cars that we were going up in. We all stopped at a playground in Culverden for our legs to stretch. I felt like a cat who just woke up from a nap. Once we got there we had lunch and went on the Dog stream walk. We had to drive to the destination to start our walk. Still in our cars, we went up a steep tight hill and it felt like we were going to fall off the side. We had to go really slow because of the mist that was blinding us. Miss.Holland needed to talk to the parents who were driving. She said that we had driven the walk instead of walking it! Once we found out that news we went back down to do a different walk. We went up a steep hill again but this time walking. Some of us struggled and some of us didn't. Once we got up there some people wet their hats since they were hot like the chicken noodles after they get out of the microwave. We also got some biscuits. We went back down the hill and Miss.Holland said that we have to walk back to camp while the parents get to go in their cars! I was super mad, I didn´t want to walk all the way back since my legs were super sore. The next day we split into groups and did two different activity. One was tree climbing and the other was mountain biking. I was in tree climbing and there were only 8 people in it while the rest of the class went in the other group. Tree climbing was a lot of fun because it was a new experience. We had to sit down and listen to the man to learn how to hold onto the people climbing. Once we had all learnt how to hold the person the first person went up. I was the first person and I was very nervous. I got to the top and squeezed the horn and I was really scared to jump back down but eventually did it. While everyone had a turn there were a lot of bees swarming around the people who had to hold onto the rope. They couldn't run or let go of the rope because otherwise the person in the tree might fall. The people who weren't holding the rope or doing any jobs had to whack the bees away. We moved onto the next level which was harder. I didn't make it all the way and got really scared. When I jumped it felt like I was taking the leap of faith. Once I got down I took off my harness because I was too scared to go on the next level which was really high. After some time I decided to go again on the high one even though I knew I wasn't going to make it. I think it was really fun and everyone did a great job and gave it a shot. Last night we did a talent show. Melissa was the judge. The first person to show their talent was Jackson.O he attempted to drink a whole water bottle. Jackson didn't finish the bottle but he did pretty good. Next was the tik tok group. Which I was in with a lot of other people. We used Ms.Hollands phone for the music and we played a tik tok dance mashup from you tube. We didn't have a speaker so everyone had to be quiet. We performed and started to laugh a lot. At the end we rushed off back into our seats. Then Ms.Holland told us some jokes trying to be Mr.Adams. Then some people put their hand up to tell some jokes. Afterwards Melissa said that it was all a tie. A few minutes later we went out to the field to play a game of capture the flag. Ovarl it was a great time and thank you to the teachers and parents that helped make it possible. The end.
